Now more than ever we need to keep our bodies strong and healthy. The best way to do that is through diet and exercise. I encourage you to challenge yourself with me to get in the best shape of your life. The first course of action will be talking to a doctor. It is important to see if you are healthy enough to begin any diet or exercise regime. The challenge will be specific to your desired result and once you have selected what will get you going you will need some gear and perhaps a gym membership to get you started.
It starts with a goal. Perhaps it is to lose weight or to fight off boredom and depression. No matter the reason, now is the time to commit. I mean really, really commit. It’s not going to be easy but we can make it fun and exciting but first we have to start.
So what is your challenge. Running a 5k, 10k or marathon? Body building your way into a competition? Losing a few pounds and feeling healthier? You can look for workouts online or in magazines. I use You Tube, Beachbody, Crunch and Fab Fit Fun workouts. Some of these services you do have to pay memberships for but I highly recommend them and with Fab Fit Fun you get a seasonal box of goodies.
Talk to your doctor
It is important to talk to your doctor before you begin any diet or exercise program. I will be asking for a physical, blood work and bonus an allergy test.
If you have some equipment great but there is plenty you can do without equiptment as you slowly build up your collection. I suggest some hand weights, yoga mat, kettle bell (my favorite), bands, loops, jump rope and yoga blocks. With these items your gym could be anywhere inside or out.
Don’t forget the gym clothes! A set of new workout clothes may be what’s needed to help you get moving. You can also reward yourself with new gear after you hit a milestone like losing 5 pounds or completing a 30 day workout challenge.
Time to get started
Begin with the end in mind then decide what type of workout you are going to start. Will it be going to the gym? Find a gym that motivates you to continue going. Will it be an at home workout program? Pick a program that excites you and make sure you have everything you need.
Pick a start date. I like Monday’s but there is no time like today to get started. Working out is so good for the body and I want to see my body in its best shape by pushing my limits and sweating out the toxins.
