Welcome, Autumn! We look forward to your cooler temperatures, fall fashion and festivities. As we turn a new leaf there is so much to do and plan. From O.O.T.D. to Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving and Oktoberfest. Let’s get the planning started.
Here are just a few things I would like to try to accomplish this Autumn.
1) Climb the Statue of Liberty
2) Seasonal trip to Atlantic City
3) Apple picking and pie baking
4) Pumpkin picking and carving
5) Put together a Halloween costume
6) Attend the Macy’s Day Parade
7) Red Bull’s soccer game
8) Bike riding
9) Fall foliage nature walks
10) Row boats in Central Park
11) Fall craft project
12) Fall version of Spring Cleaning
13) Dinner party with family and friends
14) Haunted house
Let’s be clear. I’m a penny pincher so along the way I want to save money in all the ways that I can. I challenge you to make a list of things to do this Fall.
Summer you are my favorite. You are the season we scramble to make the most memories. We vacation when we can, sit and play outside. It’s a beautiful time.
I always make a bucket list of things I’d like to accomplish during the summer. It makes planning my days off easier. I just pick something off the list to check off.
Here is an example of the stuff I like to do.
1) Visit family in Texas
2) Visit family in Florida
3) Booze Cruise around the Hudson River
5) Visit Atlantic City
6) Bike Ride around Governors Island
7) Row Boat in Central Park
8) Visit Coney Island
9) Visit Pennsylvania
10) Girls trip to Cape May
11) Visit a museum
This is just a list of the things I’d like accomplish; I do not always get the opportunity to do everything, and that’s okay.
The best part of this summer is the quality time spent with family and friends. Nothing can replace the memories made or the quality time we shared all summer long. I’m feeling blessed and I look forward to fall.
I got the privilege of being invited to the Neptune Lobster Feast at Rutgers in New Brunswick, NJ. My gf daughter is a student at the school and invited us to join her at this popular event.
I enjoyed waiting in line with the other students. Some had their parents join them. You could tell how excited the parents were to be there and how proud they were of their children. The kids were a little shy and uncomfortable around their folks.
I over heard a student asking her parents why they were so dressed up to eat lobster. While there was no dress code; you could tell the parents were just happy to be there and dressing up was part of the fun. It was cute to watch.
Rutgers purchased over 18,000 live lobsters. There were crab legs, shrimp, salmon and everything in between. Everything was delicious. It was a great day with great company.
This past weekend I was lucky enough to fan out at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in NY/NJ. I never thought of myself as one of the nerds that might be into this but, I am! I also thought I would never be interested in going to a Renaissance Festival, I was wrong about that too. (Obviously, I am a nerd).
When I got there I didn’t know what to expect. I knew there would be some panels, vendors and the stars of some of my favorite shows signing autographs and taking photos with fans. I walked around amongst all the cool stuff and costumed people. I saw a tattoo section and immediately knew I wanted an arrow tattoo. I was in fact there because of the Arrow’s show influence on me. So, why not. I did it. I got a dainty little arrow tattoo from a tough tattoo artist.
It was a really great weekend that ended with a photo op with Stephen Amel. Photo ops are pretty pricey and happen so fast. You can also purchase a selfie and/or autograph. I witnessed the stars actually interacting with their fans; a real meet and greet. Next time, and there will be a next time I am definitely opting for a selfie and some one on one time. What great fun. More fun than I could have ever expected.
I have a closet and two dressers filled with clothes but nothing to wear. It’s hard to throw things out. I put so much attachment onto my things. Even as a child, it was hard to give up my toys. Each one had a memory attached to it. A feeling that would seemingly be lost if I tossed.
As an adult, not much has changed. I am very interested in living a minimalist lifestyle. I’m an American and I’m into what’s trending and minimalism is taking over. I have put in front of me, the task to get rid of as much shit, and yes it is shit as I can.
Out with the old and in with the new. I am not saying I’m going on a shopping spree. I just want to vamp up my style and declutter my closet. This might hurt a little, so I should probably make sure there is Sauvignon Blanc on hand.
The weekend is approaching and I am excited about an upcoming event in my area. Have you heard of Heroes and Villains? It’s like a mini Comic Con. It catches my fancy because I am a huge fan of the show Arrow. When your name is Marion it’s easy to fall for a vigilante with a bow, arrow and green cape. (Hence, Robin Hood).
The show will host panels and for a charge you can purchase autographs and pictures with your favorite characters. I will be taking a photo with my favorite hero the Green Arrow himself. Stay tuned to see how that turns out.
As a money saving junky, it is my duty to share with you a money saving tip. All military and first responders can get into the event for FREE. The show is sold out on Saturday, but they have stated on their website that they have never turned down a service member for free entry. So, if you live in the NYC or NJ area come to the Secaucus, NJ convention center and fan out with me.
My inspiration changes with the tide. I am a procrastinator, I start things and don’t finish all the time. Yet, I still find myself obsessing over all kinds of interesting things.
My latest obsession is with Britany Spears. Well, it’s kind of an old one that’s been revived. I can’t get over how healthy she looks. She is insanely fit, busy and appears to be happy.
I am inspired by her to put my best self forward. I am not nearly as busy as her, so I should be able to do it. I put on about 20 pounds after I started taking anti anxiety medication. It is my goal to get off the medicine and lose about 10 pounds. I find that while medicating, I am happy and and my anxiety is non existent. It’s a lovely life, but I also find myself mindlessly eating to no end. Even sleep eating. It must be euphoria due to medication.
I am a supporter of medicine and believe in it wholly. I just want to try a new approach. I am very independent and want to know I can do things on my own.
So here’s to you Britney Spears. May you prosper and thanks for the motivation and abs, I’m coming for you.
I went to Payless to get work shoes. I work in the restaurant business and they require the use of non slip shoes. My job allows you to purchase shoes and pay them off over a 5 week period but shoes are kind of pricey. So, although you are only forking out a little every week. There’s really no deal attached to that.
Payless shoes aren’t exactly my idea of cheap but they always have sales and you can find coupons everywhere. As of now, they are having their famous BOGO sale. That’s buy one get one half off. Top that with a 25% off coupon and you’ve got yourself 2 pairs of shoes for the price of one. Now that’s a deal.
Life, it’s beautiful and complicated. How does one survive. Well, according to nursery rhymes, with a little dash of spice and everything nice.
What the fudge is that suppose to mean. The spice of life? Ask me, and I will tell you. I once saw a magazine with that subtitle. It was under my dad’s waterbed. It showed me what was real in this world. The nitty gritty. The real spice of life.
