Frugal Friday: Bike Riding on Governors Island

Bike riding is a great way to spend a day in New York, especially when the bike rental is free, there is no car traffic and you have the NYC skyline for a back drop.

Governors Island

Governors Island is a small island only a $3 and 8 min ferry ride away NYC. This island with a rich history is the perfect place for a FREE 1 hour bike ride. You will find trails that will take you pass the Statue of Liberty, Castle Williams, Fort Jay and the Skyline of NYC.

Blazing Saddles

Blazing Saddles is a bike rental company that offers a free 1 hour bike rental before noon on weekdays. One hour is more than enough time to explore the small island. You can find all the info you need on their website https://govisland.com/things-to-do/activities/biking

When you are done with your bike ride a tour of Castle Williams is a must. If you are in the NYC area between May and October put this destination on your to do list.

    1. Yes, it certainly is. They recently started an electric scooter share in my city. I can’t wait to zoom around on one.
