The Last Time You Were Stuck In the Car with Your Family

The last time I remember being with my family was last year during a summer vacation to Texas. Good times, but that was not the last time we were stuck in a car together.

That last time we were stuck in a car together was for my Dad’s memorial service. We were all loaded up in my brothers truck (including my Father’s ashes). We had about a 2 hour drive to his hometown of San Antonio where the memorial was taking place.

Midway through the ride the truck broke down. We were stuck on the side of the street. My brother is 9 years younger than myself and I have always viewed him as a kid. At this moment he stepped up and saved the day. He opened the hood, tinkered around for 15 minutes and when all hope seemed lost, the truck started up again and we made it.

This moment changed my prospective about my brother. He was a man, and a good one. I love my family and I look forward to the next time we are stuck in a car together. Hopefully, it will be next month when we are all together to celebrate my niece’s high school graduation.

Thanks for reading this dedication to my brother, my hero.
